Earth Day in Action 2026: Community, Sustainability, and Impact throughout the Hudson Valley

Throughout April, the Mid-Hudson Energy Hub demonstrated an expansive regional commitment to Earth Month outreach by participating in a wide range of sustainability events, festivals, educational programs, health fairs, and community celebrations across the Hudson Valley. Energy Advisors and staff worked throughout Dutchess, Westchester, Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and surrounding counties to ensure residents had direct access to trusted information about clean energy programs, home efficiency improvements, electrification options, rebates, and cost saving resources.

The Town of Washington’s first annual Earth Day Celebration in Millbrook on April 19th served as one of many opportunities for Mid-Hudson Energy Hub staff to engage residents through personalized consultations and community education. At the event, Energy Advisor Rocio Sharrock met one on one with attendees to discuss ways households could reduce energy costs, improve comfort, and navigate available state and local clean energy programs. The event itself featured a sustainable goods and upcycling market, educational activities, gardening experiences, food vendors, and family friendly environmental programming that encouraged community participation and sustainability awareness.

Beyond Millbrook, Hub staff maintained an active presence across the region throughout the entire month. In Westchester County alone, the team participated in the Green Ossining 16th Annual Earth Day Festival, the Briarcliff Manor Earth Day Celebration, the Larchmont Earth Day Celebration, the Mount Kisco Earth Day Celebration, the New Castle Earth Day Celebration, Bedford 2030 Earth Day Fest, Croton Earth Day, and the 2026 Clean Energy Action Conference: Powering Change Together. These events brought together thousands of residents through environmental education, municipal sustainability initiatives, clean transportation discussions, renewable energy advocacy, and family centered programming.

In Orange County, the Mid-Hudson Energy Hub joined the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Earth Day Celebration and additional regional environmental events focused on outdoor education, conservation, and community engagement. In Dutchess County, staff expanded outreach through participation in the Dutchess County Health Fair and continued community tabling efforts that connected residents directly with practical information about energy affordability and healthier homes.

The Hub’s outreach efforts also extended into Sullivan County through participation in SUNY Sullivan Spring Fest, where Energy Advisors engaged students, families, and community members about the growing importance of clean energy careers, energy literacy, and sustainable living practices. Staff additionally participated in Greenvale Park Community Day and numerous local workshops and pop-up events designed to meet residents in accessible, community centered spaces.

What made the Mid-Hudson Energy Hub’s Earth Month especially impactful was not simply the number of events attended, but the diversity of audiences reached. Over the course of April, staff engaged families, students, seniors, homeowners, renters, nonprofit organizations, and small business owners through festivals, educational institutions, health focused events, municipal sustainability programs, and neighborhood celebrations. By maintaining a visible presence across so many communities and event types, the Hub ensured that clean energy information reached residents who may not otherwise seek out these resources on their own.

These large-scale public events were supported alongside the Hub’s ongoing monthly workshops, office hours, and pop-up outreach efforts held regularly throughout each county served. Collectively, Earth Month highlighted the Mid-Hudson Energy Hub’s mission to make clean energy education approachable, equitable, and community driven while helping Hudson Valley residents access real solutions that lower costs, improve comfort, and support long term sustainability goals.
